2009-05-25 00:43:19 Stuff to write about
It's hard to write interesting journal entries for this time of year. winter weather has hit quite suddenly so it's freezing outside, and along with that I've caught a cold that's left me feeling miserable inside too for the past few weeks.
Also the rear suspension bushes on my car have turned what should have been a simple certificate of fitness check into a six week drama trying to get spare parts. At least there's no where interesting I'd rather be driving it right now, so off to Auckland this weekend hopefully to see if K W Historics can get it sorted.

Waiting for the parade to start
It was my second year in the parade and it was every bit as fun as last time. Yes, we still spent 3 hours waiting around the staging area for our start time, followed by a mad rush to get dressed up ready to go, and the tail attachment to my raccoon suit broke in just the same place it did last year while I was scrambling to get up onto the truck and in position, but I had a neat t-shirt to cover that up this time, and the energy and excitement when we got out onto the parade route in front of 300000+ people was just amazing.

Oh yeah, and trying to dance in a fursuit on the back of a moving truck is kinda exhausting too, so I was a little quiet at the after-party this year.

Special thanks: to Barbary, Dustan, Ivan, Lupie and all the others that helped organise stuff and make sure we got in the parade, to all the other fursuiters for being so cool to perform with, and to Devil Kitsune and Stephen Quoll for helping with accomodation, bus trips, meals etc. while I was in Sydney.

Finally, Hendikins took some great photographs again this year, see them on his web album here.
2009-01-18 00:22:30 New year's 2009 summary.
It's halfway through January already and I haven't written an update for weeks. Maybe because I've been too busy having fun instead, but probably just laziness. :)

So, here's quick catch-up on the last month and a half:

* MiDFur: As almost everyone else there has already said, it was amazing! Certainly the most fun I've had a convention, and it didn't need to be as big as some of the American events to be as chaotic, or to interesting activities squeezed in anyway.

* Xmas day: Was a lovely day as always, nice weather and lunch at Stephen's parents place in Tauranga.

* Summer break: I had some time off work and Stephen didn't, so I went up to Auckland to hang out with Blitz and LycTiger, and Gaz Fox was visiting from Sydney, which was a good excuse to go hang out on the beaches. It was a shame though, that the weather was against us getting outside in our fursuits.

* New Year's eve: Auckland again, but at FooFox's new flat downtown. Except we had to call him Stephen all evening since he'd invited normal friends to the party too. So we celebrated the new year by getting drunk on superbly mixed cocktails and playing SingStar.

* Fixing the Esprit again: First project of the year was sorting my car out, it turned out the clutch was stuck completely so we got it towed up to the garage in Auckland to have the hydraulics sorted out, and it's back on the road again. Still needs a clean though.

* Work: Yeah, back to work at the beginning of January. Lucky it's fairly quiet right now, but also too hot, with no air conditioning in my office.
