| It's been a busy summer, so that will have to be my excuse for this being yet another late update. First highlight was LCA2010, my first ever time at a big tech conference. I thought I knew lots about Linux and Open Source already, so it was was a real learning experience to find out how much I didn't know yet. And I got my GPG key signed by interesting people, yay! Next week was NZNOG'10, which was a bit smaller and closer to home, but still very interesting, and lots of Epic beer. And in between the drinks I learned I really should be implementing DNSSEC this year, and convince work we need to do IPv6 now. So, after all that work, time for the annual trip to Sydney for Mardi Gras. The theme for the float this year was Studio Fifty-Fur, so shiny things and disco music all around. And lots of enthusiasm from the crowds watching us made it an amazing experience and totally worth ending up exhaused and soaked in sweat by the end. Special thanks as always to all the furs who got the parade entry organised. Finally, back to work again, except up to Auckland first for short training course on using work's shiny new NAS system (and a side trip to the Angus steak house :) So. Next update in 3 months, maybe. Hopefully with some FurcoNZ news. ;) |

| It's a bit late, but happy new year everyone, I hope it's started off positively for you too. My holiday break was great, except for being too short. And spending most of new year's day recovering from the evening's celebrations didn't help... oh well. On the positive side, the road trip before xmas went very well with only the failed central locking on the Esprit causing problems. And as well as finding time to disassemble that to see if I can diagnose it, we found time over the break to take our MythTV system apart and completely rebuild it with new tuner dongles and Freeview support. |

| I just got the Esprit back from its six-monthly checkup, and apart from a the persistent leak in the clutch master cylinder and the sudden failure of the central locking system, it's in great health. So, time to plan a little drive somewhere to take advantage of work closing a week early for the holidays. Before then though, FurcoNZ next weekend and MiDFur the weekend after. Yay! |
